Solid Solidary Generosity

Help Sree get a replacement laptop after his own one was stolen.

Plone Events are great

Plone Conferences are always great time.

Great people, great spirit, great technology..

Any Plone event is great, I've enjoyed all of them and learned so much every time.

But..

Sometimes shit happens as well..

After Whit Morris (during the second Plone Conference in Vienna), myself (on my way to the archipelago sprint), and possibly other people after that, Sree got his laptop stolen.

That happend at lunch time yesterday (oct 29).

Just like in previous cases that was his own laptop, not a computer he got from a company. As always in that case, the computer was not covered by a insurance only a company would pay for.

I feel his pain, it happened to me, I know how bad it is when you realized it's simply.. phoo.. gone.

Thankfully

The Plone Community has been greatly supportive when it happened to me.

Short after the archipelago sprint, a fundraising was organized through fundable.org, and in a surprisingly short time (less than 24 hours), $2000 (two thousand dollars!!) were given by members of the Plone Community.

At that time, I felt the deep dimension of solidarity and generosity inside a community.

We are not only developers and integrators gravitting around a technology. We're much more than an association of users. We're a community of people who care one about another.

Again Please

Now I want the community to do it again for Sree.

Sree is an early resident in the Plone world. Before Plone had any decent version number (remember 0.7b3?), he was already teaching it in India. Sree gives his Plone expertise to non profit organizations, helps them setting up their information system using Plone and trains them. Yes, he gives is expertise, he shares it, he doesn't get paid for that.

I'm sure most of you have met him here or in a previous conference.

For everything he made for Plone, he more than deserves our help.

Fund Raising

I recently baught a new mac, so I'm going to sell the one I've been using since the community gave it to me. All the money I can get from it will go directly to Sree to help him buy a new laptop.

It is a good beginning, but we need a bit more. We probably need around €1500 to make sure he can buy one after all the currency conversion and withdrawal stuff has been processed.

You can make a donation from this page:

Or this one:

Many of us make money thank to Plone and its community strength. If you do, please consider donating to Sree.

Thanks!!

Thanks again to everyone, for the past and the future.
